WHY IT'S NECESSARY TO CLEAN THE AIR HANDLER

Tampa Air Systems Air Duct Cleaning is a great way to improve the quality of the air inside your home. Most property owners don't realize that even the most stringent air duct cleaning can be recontaminated immediately if the air handler remains dirty.

Imagine having all the mold, dust and allergens removed from your ventilation system only to have it be blown back in once your AC system is turned on. Talk about a waste of money!

NADCA RECOMMENDATION

The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) states, "Air duct cleaning is a misnomer. In actuality, the entire HVAC system should be cleaned. Failure to clean all components of the system can result in recontamination of the entire system, thus minimizing the benefits of cleaning.

Just as you wouldn’t clean only half of your living room floor, you also would not want to clean only part of your HVAC system. NADCA recommends cleaning the entire HVAC system, including the following components:

air ducts, coils, drain pan, registers, grills, air plenum, blower motor and assembly, heat exchanger, air filters and the air cleaner."

HOW WE CLEAN THE AIR HANDLER

The air handler should be inspected during an HVAC Duct Inspection, as it is not always in need of cleaning.

Tampa Air Systems recommends cleaning your air handler, if necessary, during the air duct cleaning process to avoid sending mold, viruses and bacteria back into your ventilation system.

If the inspection indicates a contaminated air handler, your technician would need to determine if the coil can be cleaned where it is or if it will need to be removed from the air handler to ensure proper cleaning.

Removal and re-installation of the coil is time consuming and more expensive than a coil that can be cleaned in place. Only with an HVAC Duct Inspection can your technician determine the best method for cleaning your equipment.

Once the method is determined, a high potency cleaning agent specifically designed for air handler cleaning is used to remove any contamination. The detergent is thoroughly rinsed from the coil prior to re-installation or reactivation of the unit.

Having your air handling unit cleaned extends the life of your system, reduces air flow constriction and can save on energy bills. Schedule an HVAC Duct Inspection to find out what's going on inside your system and eliminate any surprises.
